At video game news site Pixelitis, we upped the ante when it came to interviewing game developers with both long-form and short-form videos. Over at the nonprofit Ceres, I helped to usher in video production and editing as a valuable storytelling tool.

Here are a few standouts of my production, editing, and scripting work over the years.

“The Joan Bavaria Award was established in 2008 in memory of Joan Bavaria, a pioneer of social investing who founded Ceres and Trillium Asset Management. In recognition of the award’s 10-year anniversary, Ceres released this video tribute to honor the late pioneer and past winners.”

I produced, interviewed, filmed, and edited this entire video which was shown at the 2017 Ceres Conference.

“Indie developers had three days at last week's PAX East 2014 to show off their games to the myriad of people swarming the show floor, but what if they only had 30 seconds to tell us about their entries? Here’s what happened when we asked.”

I helped to produce and film this video. Pixelitis Editor Patrick Kulikowski edited it and put it together.

“The Investor Water Toolkit is the first-ever comprehensive resource to evaluate and act on water risks in investment portfolios…

In this video, investors such as Ken Locklin, Director at Impax Asset Management; Rakhi Kumar, Managing Director and Head of ESG Investment and Asset Stewardship at State Street Global Investors; and Carly Greenberg, Senior ESG Analyst at Walden Asset Management talk about why the toolkit is a valuable resource when incorporating water risk into their business strategies.”

I conducted two interviews, helped to write the questions, and edited the footage to make a short introductory video alongside the launch.

“Pixelitis Editor Karen P. Rivera sits down with Supergiant Games' composer Darren Korb to discuss his approach to composing music.”

This was one of my first ever long-form interviews on video, with newbie skills on display. That being said, it was a fun interview with composer Darren Korb!

Bonus: Tiktok videos

As a part-time employee at Calliope Paperie, I built up the stationery store’s presence on TikTok over the course of three months. I worked on scripting, filming, editing, and publishing the videos—using Adobe Premiere Rush to provide a first cut. I also conducted follower outreach through hashtags, following other stationery store owners online, and just building up our own library of short video content. We continued expanding upon the brand’s irreverent design and spunk, developed by owner Kristina Burkey. Retaining authenticity and fun was key to developing these videos. There’s a lot of Barbie, the color pink, and a little bit of myself in there as well.

On August 5, the store held the third annual National Stationery Store Day. Created by Calliope’s owner Kristina Burkey, the event featured special commemorative stationery to support local stationery shops around the U.S. and even as far out as Australia and Italy. It was a resounding success, with a huge line out the door at 9 a.m.

I helped to edit and film the first video introducing the store layout and available merchandise.

General Manager Lori Gallagher shows off some of her favorite items in the store, and as the resident disco queen it was crucial to have some 70s tunes in the background.

As part of the promotion for the popular Halloween mystery blind bags, we made our own “#HiBarbie” video with all the pins customers could collect. It was a fun exercise in timing and matching audio to actions, however brief.
